Clinical Cases

A skin deficit wound can occur at any location of the body. They are the result of traumatic injuries,  infective episodes and pre existing conditions such as diabetes and, in the elderly, the development of pressure sores. There are also instances where wounds that were closed by suture open up again (dehiscence) after surgery due to contamination or excessive tension on the suture line. A skin deficit non healing wound can be painful, is always at risk for an infective episode and should be closed quickly

Physicians generally find the management of skin deficit wounds, dehisced wounds and contaminated wounds frustrating and time consuming. Wounds that are slow to heal or remain unhealed may be closed with the use of the Proxiderm device. The Proxiderm can simplify a difficult procedure, avoid general anesthesia with its associated complications, is less traumatic and results in a quicker recovery.
